I first heard about Radio Garden late last year from a column written by radio observer Sean Ross. The website allows you to navigate the earth which is quickly covered with "sprouting" green dots representing radio stations. Click on a dot and you're instantly listening to that station's live stream. On my first try, Radio Garden must have known my location as it settled on a station in Sidney, Ohio about 40 minutes from where I live. The problem being that 98.7 FM KSID is from Sidney, Nebraska about 1000 miles away from Sidney, Ohio. Oh well....that glitch aside, when something comes along that combines two of my favorite things--radio and geography--I can't complain too much. While typing this post I heard Lil Wayne & Wiz Khalifa on Top FM in the Azores, NEIKED on Sweden's Sveriges Radio P4 and Michael Bolton, who still gets airplay on Ceria FM in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I took a quick listen to KSID FM again tonight as well and heard the end of a boys high school basketball game (Leyton vs Sedgwick County--Go Warriors!)
1340 KSID plays Country music as "The Fort" while the other half, "Sky FM," seems to play a mix of Classic Hits/Classic Rock and Top-40. Both are licensed to Sidney, Nebraska (nowhere near Sidney, Ohio.)

Mystery Magnet - Y95
Anybody know where this "Y95" magnet is from? Years ago I asked about this logo on a radio message board. One guess was KHYI in Dallas, Texas which is a Country station and used to be branded as "Y95" but I can't confirm it (at least not with a Google image search.) Another person thought it might be KCXY in Arkansas but I can't find a logo match there either.

AVRO
AVRO (Algemene Vereniging Radio Omroep) or in English: "General Association of Radio Broadcasting" was a Dutch public broadcasting association based in Hilversum, Netherlands. Their first transmission took place in July, 1923 under a different name and became AVRO in 1927. A merger with another Dutch broadcaster in 2014 resulted in the formation of AVROTROS. The slogan on the above decal translates to "In full swing."
The back of this postcard sticker offered a free chess set for new members. AVRO sponsored a chess tournament in November, 1938 which brought together the current world champion as well as every major challenger at the time. The matches started in Amsterdam with each successive round played in a different Dutch city.

WUMD
89.3 FM WUMD broadcasts with 9,600 watts from the (W) University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. The station went on the air on this day in 1972 with a 10 watt signal emanating from a cafeteria closet. At the time, they were located at 91.1 FM and carried the call letters WUSM. For a really crappy 45th birthday present, UMass Dartmouth announced last week that they would be selling the station to Rhode Island Public Radio for $1.5 million dollars. A "Save WUMD" Facebook page has been set up with information on how to contact the FCC and officially oppose the sale of the station.

KGIL
This KGIL sticker probably dates to the mid-1980s when that year's Broadcasting Yearbook says 1260 AM carried an MOR format while "K94.3" was Adult Contemporary. These 1984 jingles for the combo's FM half had the station "Rockin' Easy in the Valley". Anybody know what the "K-Gillionaire" contest was all about? KGIL AM & FM were licensed to San Fernando, California near Los Angeles.
KGIL was branded as "Retro 1260" from 2009 to 2011 and played a mix of Oldies and Adult Standards.
