KIWR "89.7 The River" is a non-commercial Alternative Rock station owned by Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  Their 100,000-watt signal covers the entire Omaha metropolitan area.

Native Communications Inc.

The origins of what would become Native Communications Inc. (NCI) began with broadcasts in northern Manitoba in September 1971.  The non-profit, public broadcaster currently airs on 59 transmitters covering 98% of the province with programming by and for Indigenous people.  The flagship station is 105.5 FM CINC in Winnipeg, MB.

Tipp FM is an independent local radio station broadcasting from Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland.  They went on the air in 1989 and can currently be heard on 4 different frequencies.

R.I.P. Don Imus

Legendary broadcaster Don Imus passed away today at age 79.  He was on the air for almost 50 years and at one time was syndicated on over 70 stations.  Imus' career was overshadowed by a racial slur against the Rutgers University women's basketball team which resulted in the cancellation of his Imus in the Morning show by CBS Radio.

89.1 FM KBYU airs Classical music from (K) Brigham Young University in Provo/Salt Lake City, Utah.  They are also simulcast on 6 translator stations throughout parts of Utah and Idaho.  KBYU went on the air in 1960.

WWZZ

"Z104" WWZZ was a Top-40, and later Modern Adult Contemporary station, in Washington, DC.  The Waldorf, Maryland-licensed station was on the air from 1996 until 2006.

WMAS FM went on the air in 1947 and currently airs an Adult Contemporary format.  The 50,000-watt station's studios are located inside the Basketball Hall of Fame, a major attraction in Springfield, the birthplace of the sport.
