99.1 KFUO went on the air in 1948 and was the first FM station in St. Louis. In July, 2010, after 62 years as a Classical music station, the
Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod sold KFUO-FM to Gateway Creative Broadcasting who flipped 99.1 to Contemporary Christian
KLJY "Joy FM." Some former KFUO-FM staff members are now involved with the new internet home of
"Classic 99."
