Remember "Reger & the Bull"?. Ron Reger, Henry"The Bull"DelToro R.I.P., Mike Arlo, Les Wooten, Carol Taylor R.I.P., Jimmy Ray Dunn. Jimmy and the Bull. This was great radio.
Reply to Vaughn B. Uh, No I Di'ent. Hey Man, sorry it's taken me over two years to reply to your comment of January 2018, I've been meaning to get to it, Not much to do these days in the age of COVID-19. After, running around the www a little bit, I confirmed what I already knew, the speling of Ron's name is corekt. Yes, there are a few places where the double E is used but they're rong. Last I Knew he was or is, the Rev. Mr. Ron Reger at Church of the Redeemer in Mechanicsville, VA.
So maybe Ron used the "Reeger" spelling when referring to his on-air persona and "Reger" in real life (unless the Billboard article I'm looking at misspelled it too.) The bottom line is...who cares.
Ya, it was 2 E's. R E E G E R. (Have autographed picture with his name also printed out). But not really that big of a deal. They were a great team, him and the Bull. Went out to see The Bull when he locked himself in a cage to raise money for the SPCA. They did a LOT of things like that for the area.......not just causing a major evacuation of the entire area around Mt. Trashmoure....:). RIP Bull....your still missed!!
Ok, so it's been another three years, hope all is going well. Greg, you're right "Bottom line is...who cares", Brad, I hear ya: not really that big of a deal, but that's not even what I'm writing about, I have something for you to check out, if you don't already know about it, maybe add it to your "Time Waster" links. Radio station record/music surveys: ARSA — THE AIRHEADS RADIO SURVEY ARCHIVE at http://www.las-solanas.com/. Lots of fun, enjoy. While you're there check out WNOR (AM 1230) circa 6/14/1977 - 5/23/78. see the name at the bottom at music director. If you look back one further it's Phil Beckman who had mornings at FM99 WNOR just prior to Reger & The Bull. Then look one later and it's Jim Stanley who would later find further fame at K-94. Oh, and Brad, I too visited Henry Del Toro in his cage at the SPCA, brought him a Budweiser and a package of chicken livers labeled "PUPPY LIVERS", I was asked to leave by the "Stick Woman (or was it Stick Lady) with a glass eye" who looked like Sandy Duncan, we all knew it was fun, ha ha good times. Missed out on the events of the Mt. Trashmore incident, left the area by that time, but I did hear about it. And how 'bout those Reger & the Bull Breakfast party's. I could go on and on about all of the FM99 people, Lane Callahan, Mike Arlo, Les Wooten, Carol Taylor (rip), Liz Gilette, Jimmy "Ray" Dunn. Anyway, that's enough. CHEERS.
WNOR RRRRRRRRRRRRRROCKS!
