KFMB

KFMB went on the air in San Diego, California in August, 1941 at 1450 AM on the dial.  They moved around multiple times before settling in at their current 760 AM position in 1965.  The call letters stand for (K) For Mary and Burnham who were the children of the station's founder Warren Worcester.  KFMB is one of the few US stations that significantly increases its power at night (from 5,000 watts to 50,000).  From 1978 to 1999 they were the flagship station of the San Diego Padres baseball team.
