CFLX began broadcasting on local cable in 1978 at 98.1 FM in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The community radio station switched to their current frequency in the mid-1980s. CFLX's call letters are a tribute to French-Canadian singer-songwriter and poet Félix Leclerc.
