105.5 FM WWRE and 104.9 FM WWRT broadcast a Classic Rock format in the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia circa the mid-2000s.
EDIT: A reader who lives in this market has submitted some very informative updates about what became of these frequencies. See the comments.
This is my home market. :)
ReplyDelete105.5 is now WINC-FM (Berryville/Winchester), carrying the Hot Adult Contemporary "Wink FM" format that was previously heard on 92.5. 92.5 is now WAIW, which carries EMF's Air1.
104.9 was sold to a local religious broadcaster and now simulcasts WVRS/Gore, VA as WVRX/Strasburg. Both WVRS and WVRX carry a simulcasting Southern Gospel format (that originiated at WTRM) as "The Point FM".
Previously, 105.5, 104.9, 92.5, and AM 1400 (the former WINC-AM) were all owned by Centennial Broadcasting. They no longer operate in the Winchester, Virginia market.
AM 1400 was also sold and now carries the WZFC callsign, after being WINC for 80 years, but still airs a Conservative News/Talk format.
The studios for these former stations, which has been in the same location since 1940, will soon be torn down to make way for 300K "low-income" townhomes (no, I'm not kidding).
Thanks Tybois!
