1450 AM KTIP (K This Is Porterville) is a News/Talk outlet licensed to Porterville, California.  The independently-owned station has been on the air since 1947 and was the first station in the state to broadcast 24/7.  KTIP carried Los Angeles Rams football games until the team moved to St. Louis in 1995,

KUGR "The Cougar" broadcasts a Soft AC & Talk format.  The 1,000-watt station went on the air in 1976 and is licensed to Green River, Wyoming.  The cowboy on a bucking bronco is the mascot of the University of Wyoming's sports teams and has been used by the school since the early 1920s.

690 AM WELD went on the air in Fisher, West Virginia in 1956.  101.7 FM began broadcasting about 30 years later.  The AM plays Classic Hits while the FM carries a Country format and is licensed to Moorefield, WV.

WONB


WONB is a 3,000-watt station run by the students of Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.  They program hits of the 70s through 90s during the day, current hit music at night and oldies from the 50s through 70s in the overnight slot.  A WONB sticker featuring the school's polar bear mascot can be seen here.

WXCC

WXCC is a Country station licensed to Williamson, West Virginia.  "Coal Country" 96.5's 100,000 watt signal reaches southern West Virginia, eastern Kentucky and parts of Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio and North Carolina.  They went on the air in October, 1978 by playing Tennessee Ernie Ford's "Sixteen Tons," a song about the life of a coal miner.

WAHR




WAHR (now known as "Star 99.1") is an Adult Contemporary station in Huntsville, Alabama.  Until he sold the station in 1999, WAHR was owned by local record store owner Arnold Hornbuckle.  The call letters stood for (W)Arnold Hornbuckle's Records.  The station became the first stand-alone FM in the state of Alabama when they went on the air in 1959.

XHNOE is a Spanish Talk station in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico.  They also serve the Texas border town of Laredo.  "Stereo 91" went on the air in 1967 and is owned by Noe Cuéllar whose name not coincidentally appears in the call letters.

WHDH

The history of WHDH goes back to 1929 when they went on the air at 830 AM as a daytime-only station in Gloucester, Massachusetts.  They moved to 850 AM in 1941 and soon after began broadcasting on a full time basis.  Post World War II, the increasingly successful WHDH played popular music with their strong lineup of DJs as well as Boston Bruins hockey and Boston Celtics basketball.  They were the flagship station of the Boston Red Sox from 1946 to 1975.  On Saturday nights WHDH aired one of the first sports talk shows "The Voice of Sports."  In 1994 850 AM became WEEI, an all-Sports station which now airs ESPN Radio's entire lineup of nationally syndicated programming.

KDXI




The 1977 Broadcasting Yearbook lists Mansfield, Louisiana's KDXI as having both a Country and Gospel format.  It's unclear what became of the them as no station currently exists at 1360 AM in that area of the state.
