KBUX/The Underground

"The Underground" was a student-run, internet radio station broadcasting from The Ohio State University from the late 1990s until around 2008.  An earlier incarnation of the station was known as "KBUX" and they broadcast on a cable TV channel as well as at 91.1 FM.

I volunteered at The Underground from late March 2003 to May 2006 under the name DJ Slim. I served as the World Music Director, a sports analyst on Bux On Bux (hosted solo during the spring quarters of 2004 and 2005), sports pre-game and post-game analyst, program producer (e.g. a reggae music show showcasing the best of the Columbus reggae scene, 2004 presidential election season). I also was a representative of the station during the 2003 and 2004 College Music Journal festival in New York City (I also worked as a volunteer both years). I covered a Squarepusher concert at the Wexner Center and a visit from 2004 Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry to the South Oval.
