1210 AM WAVI was on the air in Dayton, Ohio for about 30 years starting in 1954. They carried a handful of formats including Big Band, Adult Contemporary and Country. WAVI was an early adopter of the Talk radio format beginning in 1971. This continued until 1985 when they switched to R&B/Urban and changed call letters to
WDAO.
