WJUL

WJUL existed from 1975 until 2003 in Lowell, Massachusetts.  The call letters were changed from WLTI to reflect the mid-1970s merging of two schools to form the University of Lowell.  Today, 91.5 FM has the call letters WUML and the school is known as the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

WESU

According to their website, Wesleyan University's WESU is the second oldest college radio station in the country.  The now 6,000-watt station began in 1939 as a modest carrier current outlet and switched to FM in 1961.  Prior to 2004, WESU was entirely Freeform with students and community volunteers having complete freedom to program what they wanted.  Their daytime offerings now consist of syndicated public radio shows from National Public Radio, Public Radio International and the Pacifica Radio Network with Freeform shows on nights and weekends.  This programming decision was initiated by the president of Wesleyan University who, not coincidentally, was a former president of NPR.  WESU is licensed to Middletown, Connecticut.
