WWSW AM & FM

WWSW went on the air in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1931 broadcasting at 1500 AM.  In 1949 they moved to 970 AM.  For many years they carried an MOR format but were a Country outlet circa the late 1970s when the above decal was printed.

Sister station 94.5 FM WWSW was mostly a simulcast of its AM counterpart until the late 1960s when the FCC started requiring AM/FM combos to have separate programming.  These late 1980s/early 90s stickers date to when they carried an Oldies format (and after the FCC dropped the simulcast rule.)  Today they're a Classic Hits station.
