KFAT/CHUB

This lard-ass is about to break the dreaded 200 pound barrier. Too much pie and not enough veggies during the holidays. Eat less, move more, blah blah blah.......
KFAT was a freeform, Country/Americana station that lasted from 1975 to 1983 and was licensed to Gilroy, California. CHUB broadcast from Nanaimo, British Columbia starting in 1949. Supposedly, the city's nickname is The Hub City hence the call letters. The station moved from 1570 AM to 102.3 FM in 1994 and a year later changed calls to the much less amusing CKWV.

WGGY/WGGI

This Froggy 101 sticker can be seen on Dwight Schrute's filing cabinet every week on NBC's "The Office." It's an actual country station licensed to Scranton, Pennsylvania at 101.3 and simulcast at 95.9 licensed to Benton, PA. There are quite a few Froggy stations across the country with the same grinning frog logo. Many of them are guilty of making their DJs use absurd frog-related names like David Hopperfield, Anne Phibian and Lilly Pad. Ridiculous!

WSNW

This 1956 sticker from Seneca, South Carolina is probably the oldest in my collection. As you can tell from the quote at the top, it wasn't meant to be stuck to a car bumper but rather to a shop owners door (I'm guessing.) Notice the old-timey use of the KC (kilocycles) abbreviation instead of AM. The back of the sticker says it was printed by the National Decalcomania Corp. in Philadelphia. Decalcomania is also the name of a club for people who collect radio stickers, airchecks and memorabilia.

Mystery Sticker

This may be from WLVG in Center Moriches, New York but I'm not sure. That station goes by "Love 96.1" and have a similar "scribbled" heart logo. http://www.love961.com

KFAX

Construction on the Golden Gate Bridge was started on this day in 1933. It is painted an orange vermilion color called "international orange" which helps enhance the bridge's visibilty in fog. KFAX is a Christian station licensed to San Francisco.

WTRN

1340 AM WTRN is a full-service Adult Contemporary station in Tyrone, Pennsylvania.  They went on the air in 1955 and may or may not still love your children.

WNEW

Another "new" sticker, magnet and shirt for the new year. I think the Statue Of Liberty logo is a mid-90s-era one for the heritage New York City rock station. A string of format changes including Talk, CHR and Adult Contemporary followed and then the WNEW call letters were gone forever (at least in NYC.)

WPYO

WPYO was a Dance/Top 40 station licensed to Apopka, Florida.

KNEW

The KNEW call letters were used in the San Francisco Bay area from 1966 until 2012.  Formats over the years included News/Talk, Adult Contemporary, Oldies, Sports and Country.  910 AM KNEW was licensed to Oakland, California.

KRUA

KRUA is the student-run radio station from the University of Alaska-Anchorage.

95bFM

Best. Station. Slogan. Ever. 95bFM is the student radio station from the University of Auckland in New Zealand. A sticker request from Dan in Vancouver.

KKJG

KKJG "98.1 KJUG" plays Country music in San Luis Obispo, California.

KBRD

KBRD is a 250-watt daytimer with a Nostalgia format. Anybody know what the T.T.M. stands for? "K-BiRD" is licensed to Lacey, Washington.

WFMU

One of many fantastic, listener-designed stickers from this eclectic, freeform station out of East Orange, New Jersey.

CFAC

CFAC was a Country station from Calgary, Alberta. They switched to Sports in 2001 and are now known as "The Fan 960."
