Candy!

Halloween's not til tomorrow but Beggar's Night was tonight in our neighborhood. Here's TheBoy in his homemade Wedgehead costume and this year's candy haul.


"Candy 101" KNDE broadcast from Reno, Nevada in the early to mid-1990s. I have no idea what their format was as most Google searches lead to the currently operating Top-40 station "Candy 95.1" from College Station, Texas which also uses the KNDE call letters. 100.9 FM is licensed to Sparks, NV and is now an Alternative Rock station KRZQ.

Radio Antigoon


Radio Antigoon began broadcasting from Antwerp, Belgium in 1980 and lasted until 2004. Not sure what format they carried but I did find an extremely thorough site dedicated to Flemish local radio with tons of logos including more from Radio Antigoon here.

WTIX was a highly successful Top-40 station in New Orleans, Louisiana from the 1950s through the 1970s. A few WTIX pictures, surveys, airchecks and other New Orleans radio history can be found here. 690 AM currently carries a Talk format as WIST.

British Broadcasting Corporation

On this date in 1922 the British Broadcasting Corporation was formed by a group of six telecommunications companies. The BBC was the world's first national broadcasting organization and made their first transmission in November 1922 from station 2LO in London.

This series of small triangular stickers were used to help listeners mark the dial locations of various BBC stations in their local market. Click the sticker for a close-up view.

Tom Joyner Commutes / WGCI

On this date in 1986, Tom Joyner began working at two stations in two cities. He deejayed mornings at KKDA in Dallas then flew 800 miles to Chicago to do afternoons at WGCI. He did this 5 days a week for almost 7 years racking up 7 million frequent flyer miles in the process. This earned him the nicknames "The Fly Jock" and "The Hardest Working Man In Radio."

Bills vs Jaguars

Drove up to New York yesterday for our annual Buffalo sports weekend. We saw the Sabres lose to the Rangers 6-3 in their home opener last night while wearing their beautiful 40th anniversary third jerseys. This afternoon we saw the Bills lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars 36-26. The Bills are now 0-5, the first time they've started the season this poorly since 1985.


WEDG "103.3 The Edge" is an Active Rock station licensed to Buffalo, New York. They are the co-flagship station of the Buffalo Bills along with "97 Rock" WGRF.

Actual Sticker Sighting #9 - WDCX

I saw a faded version of the above sticker on a minivan while driving on Interstate 90 today. WDCX is a Religious station licensed to Buffalo, New York. With 110,000 watts, they are the most powerful full-time Christian station east of the Mississippi.

WUNI was a Country station in Mobile, Alabama from 1963 until 1984. The call letters stood for "you and I" and their mascot was known as the Woonie Bird.  1410 AM now carries a Catholic format as WNGL "Archangel Radio."

Dart on Map - CHMY


Today's randomly thrown dart landed in a remote area of western Ontario, on Highway 511 near the communities of French Line and Brightside.

The closest radio sticker that I have to this area is from CHMY in Renfrew, Ontario, about 20 miles north of where the dart landed. "My FM" is an Adult Contemporary station that went on the air in 2004.
