1470 AM CHOW was launched in June of 1957 and licensed to Welland, Ontario. They started playing Country music in 1975 and were on the air until 1999 when they switched to FM.
CHOW FM "Spirit 91.7" also carried a Country format and existed until 2005. At that point they flipped to Classic Rock as
CIXL "91.7 Giant FM".
