Madison, Wisconsin's first WMAD went on the air in 1964 broadcasting at 1550 AM and later simulcast a Country format on 106.3 FM. An Alternative Rock outlet with the WMAD calls existed at one time that may or may not have been related to the original station. The current WMAD plays Country music at 96.3 FM as
"Star Country."

Actually Greg the WMAD call letters did related to the AM 15 and FM 106 era throughout the years when WMAD was at 92.1 in '80's, '90's, and 2000's.
