KUWL was an Alternative station licensed to College, Alaska. 103.9 FM is now Adult Hits "Ted FM" KTDZ.

WTJU

WTJU (W Thomas Jefferson's University) is a student and community volunteer-run station from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. They've been on the air since 1957 and carry a block programmed variety format including Rock, Jazz, Blues, Folk and Classical.

WMNF

WMNF (W Member-sponsored Non-commercial FM) is a listener-supported community radio station from Tampa, Florida.

WHIC

1460 AM WHIC (W Holy and Immaculate Conception) is a Catholic radio station from Rochester, New York.

WBLI

WBLI (W Best on Long Island) is a Top-40 station licensed to Patchogue, New York.

KSTL

KSTL is a Religious Teaching/Christian station from ST. Louis, Missouri.

KMGN

"93-9 The Mountain" KMGN is a Classic Rock station from Flagstaff, Arizona.

Stern Renews With Sirius XM

Howard Stern renewed his contract with Sirius XM Radio today. The deal will keep Stern on satellite radio through the end of 2015. He's been with XM for the past five years and was paid $100 million per year in cash and stock. His new contract will reportedly pay $80 million per year.

KHWD was an Alternative Rock station in Sacramento, California circa 2004. Despite Howard Stern being the branding of the station, ratings were poor and by 2005 they switched to Adult Hits "Jack FM" KQJK. KHWD was licensed to Roseville, California.

KDGE

"102.1 The Edge" KDGE is an Alternative Rock station from Fort Worth, Texas.

CHUO

89.1 FM CHUO is the campus radio station at the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ontario. They began broadcasting on cable in 1984 and switched to FM in 1991.

I don't have a clue about this station except that it's from Germany. It's kinda tough to Google anything on the sticker and get any meaningful results.

The Collection

A few regular readers to this blog have asked that I post some pictures of the whole collection.... so here ya go.

I keep the majority of the stickers in plastic bins alphabetized by call letter. The top two bins on the left are all foreign decals alphabetized by country and then by station name. I keep them in envelopes because international stickers tend to be smaller and this keeps them organized better. The next bin down are unidentified stickers followed by Canadian stations. Subsequent bins begin the KAs thru KZs then WAs thru WZs and finally a few Mexican stickers that start with X. The white box on top has miniature domestic and Canadian stickers sorted by state and province. The boxes to the right of the stickers are filled with old radio t-shirts that I've outgrown but can't throw away.

Each drawer holds around 1,200 or 1,300 stickers.

In the late 1990s I started sticking decals to sheets of poster board. This was an idiotic thing to do but I didn't realize it until I filled 28 boards. I've been trying to get the stickers that I "wasted" back again through trades and eBay but I know some of them will never be found again. In the meantime I use them as a sort of "radio sticker wallpaper."



I have a few boxes filled with various station promotional items....candy, post-it notes, lanyards, drink coolers, pens, pins, business cards, mousepads, coasters, frisbees, lip balm, balloons...all kinds of crap.

Both sides of the refrigerator are filled with radio magnets. Try to avert your eyes from the godawful floral wallpaper.

So there you have it...twenty-five years worth of radio promotional item collecting.

WRKH

"96.1 The Rocket" WRKH is a Classic Rock station from Mobile, Alabama.

WLKR

95.3 FM WLKR (NorWaLK Radio) is an Adult Album Alternative station licensed to Norwalk, Ohio. 1510 AM carries a Classic Hits format as "Kool Gold."

WFTP

WFTP was a Country station from ForT Pierce, Florida. 1330 AM is now a Spanish News/Talk station "La Gigante" WJNX.

WAAJ

WAAJ was a Contemporary Christian station licensed to Benton, Kentucky. In 2006 they became a full-time Bluegrass station.

YES! YES! YES!

96.7 WYSX is a CHR station licensed to Morristown, New York. They no longer simulcast on 98.7 FM which now plays 60s and 70s Oldies as WPAC.  94.7 FM WYUL was a co-owned station that simulcast WYSX at one time.

"YES FM" WYSZ is a Christian Rock station licensed to Maumee, Ohio. They broadcast throughout the Toledo area on two other stations and one translator.

YES FM is a Contemporary Hit Radio station based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. All commercials, news and DJ chatter was in English while I listened and I even heard them mention their ongoing bumper sticker contest. Time to send them an email to see if I can get another one.

KRVB

KRVB (K Rogue Valley Broadcasting) was an Easy Listening station from Medford, Oregon in the late 1970s.

KKRC

A 1981 sticker from KKRC, a Top-40 station from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. 1230 AM is currently a Fox Sports affiliate KWSN.

KBRX AM & FM

KBRX FM plays Country music while the AM half has morphed from Oldies to more of a Classic Hits format. Both are licensed to O'Neill, Nebraska.
