WCYN

WCYN is an AM/FM combo licensed to (W) CYNthiana, Kentucky.  1400 AM airs a Country format while 102.3 FM plays Oldies from the 60s, 70s and 80s.

The most famous log cabin in Kentucky--or perhaps anywhere--is the one where Abraham Lincoln was born in 1809 in what is now LaRue County.

WCYO

WCYO "Coyote Country 100.7" is a Country music station licensed to Irvine, Kentucky.

Radio Sticker of the Day Mailbag - KGMZ/KULA

Last week I received a nice package of Hawaiian radio stickers from a visitor to this blog.  Thanks Louise (and son!) 

107.9 FM KGMZ was an Oldies station licensed to Aiea, Hawaii near Honolulu circa the late 1990s.  Their signal was simulcast on 1460 AM KULA.  107.9 is still an Oldies outlet but now branded as "Kool Gold" KKOL.  1460 AM is currently KHRA featuring Korean-language programming.

WBSN

89.1 FM WBSN is a Contemporary Christian station in New Orleans, Louisiana.  "Life Songs" is also heard on two other stations and one translator in the southeastern part of the state.

KGCB

KGCB "Radio Shine" is a Contemporary Christian station licensed to Prescott, Arizona.  An older KGCB sticker can be seen here.

WRGA

1470 AM WRGA is a News/Talk station in (W) Rome, GeorgiA. 

WTLQ

WTLQ was a Talk station circa the mid-to-late 1990s licensed to Pine Island Center, Florida near Fort Myers.  "Smart Talk 1200" carried syndicated talkers such as Don & Mike, G. Gordon Liddy and Don Imus.  1200 AM is currently News/Talk WINK.

WIHT

WIHT "Hot 99.5" is a Top-40 station in Washington DC.  The frequency was home to WGAY, an Easy Listening/Beautiful Music station that lasted almost 40 years--from 1960 to the late 1990s.

KBUZ

90.3 FM KBUZ is a Religious station in Topeka, Kansas.  They are one of dozens of affiliates in the conservative Christian American Family Radio network.

KBVB

KBVB "Bob 95 FM" is a Country station licensed to Barnesville, Minnesota and broadcasts in the Fargo, North Dakota/Moorhead, MN market.  "The Nightshow With Zero" doesn't appear to be on the air anymore as their lineup has "The BOB Squad" doing nights.  Any idea what the "rrrobert" is about?

KBVM

88.3 KBVM is a Catholic radio station in Portland, Oregon.

KBVU

KBVU is an Alternative Rock station broadcasting from the campus of (K) Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.  "97.5 The Edge" has been on the air since 1997 and is licensed to Alta, IA.

KBWF

 "95.7 The Wolf" KBWF was a Country station in San Francisco, California from 2007 to 2011.  The frequency is currently home to the Sports formatted KGMZ "95.7 The Game."

The back of the sticker provides a handy list of phone numbers should you need to reach a world leader.  The numbers are still accurate except for the non-existent "Wolf" and the Kremlin which is now 7 (495) 624-55-03.

KBXR

"102-3 BXR" is an Adult Album Alternative station licensed to Columbia, Missouri.  They've carried the same format since signing on the air at 106.1 FM in 1993.

KBYI

KBYI originates from (K) Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg, ID.  It is part of BYU-Idaho Radio which consists of 94.3 FM KBYI, 91.5 FM KBYR and their separately programmed online stream.  KBYI plays Classical music along with NPR news and student-produced shows while KBYR features inspirational music, devotionals and other religious programming.

KBYN

KBYN 95.9 FM "La Favorita" is a Regional Mexican station licensed to Arnold, California. The name on the right side of the sticker is Vicente Fernández, a Grammy award-winning "King of Ranchera Music" who has sold millions of records and appeared in dozens of movies in a career spanning from the mid-1950s until today.

KBYZ

KBYZ "96.5 The Fox" is a Classic Rock station in Bismarck, North Dakota.

KBZD

KBZD was a 24-hour Blues station in Amarillo, Texas from 1997 until 2003.  Since signing on in 1993, the 99.7 frequency has seen 5 sets of call letters and about 9 different formats.  Currently it is Classic Country branded as "Legends 99.7"

KECR

93.3 KECR was a Religious broadcaster in the Family Radio network of stations.  In the mid-1990s the station was sold and is currently Top-40 "Channel 93.3" KHTS.  Family Radio then moved KECR to 910 AM.  Both KECR AM and FM were/are licensed to El Cajon, California near San Diego.  Other similarly-styled "Sound of New Life" stickers can be seen here.  Here. 1490 AM WBCB is a News/Talk/Sports and Music station licensed to Levittown, Pennsylvania in suburban Philadelphia.

WKHL

"Kool 96.7" WKHL was an Oldies station licensed to Stamford, Connecticut from 1992 to 2006.  For about five years afterward they were a Classic Hits/Adult Contemporary station known as WCTZ "The Coast."  96.7 FM is currently WKLV, a Contemporary Christian K-LOVE affiliate now licensed to Port Chester, New York

KCNV

89.7 KCNV is a public radio station playing Classical music in Las Vegas, Nevada.

WBBB

"96 Rock" was a mainstream Rock station in Raleigh, North Carolina from 1998 to 2011.  WBBB is now an Adult Hits station branded as "Radio 96.1"

KCBF

820 AM KCBF is a Sports station in Fairbanks, Alaska.

KSPZ

KSPZ was an Oldies station in Colorado Springs, Colorado from 1990 until around 2005.  92.9 FM is currently Adult Contemporary "Peak FM" KKPK.

KWRK

96.1 KWRK is owned by the Navajo Nation and is licensed to (K) Window RocK, Arizona.  A 1999 article in Billboard magazine says KWRK mixed contemporary Native music with Top-40 and Adult Contemporary artists.  According to Wikipedia, the station now carries a Country format known as "Capital Country 96.1"

WAVF

WAVF "101.7 Chuck FM" is a Variety Hits station licensed to Hanahan, South Carolina.

KAWC

KAWC is a News/Talk station featuring programming from the usual public radio content providers along with Jazz, Folk, World and other music.  KAWC is owned by (K) Arizona Western College in Yuma, AZ.

WAFJ

WAFJ (Winning Augusta For Jesus) is a Contemporary Christian station licensed to Belvedere, South Carolina.  Six translators help spread WAFJ's programming throughout east-central Georgia and parts or South Carolina.

KAKN

KAKN broadcasts a Religious format in southwest Alaska.  Their main frequency is 100.9 FM licensed to Naknek, AK.  Three translators beam KAKN's programming to other remote villages including 104.9 FM in Dillingham which is only accessible by plane or by sea.

WAAF

WAAF is an AOR/Active Rock station in Boston, Massachusetts.  More WAAF stickers can be seen here.

SCAD Atlanta Radio

SCAD Atlanta Radio is a student-run station from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia.  Programming consists of a wide variety of musical genres with a special emphasis on local artists and SCAD students.  The online-only station has been broadcasting from Spring House Dorm (a former hotel which is now student housing) since 2007.

KMKX

A 1995 issue of Billboard reported that San Diego, California's KMKX had a "Rock AC" format.  103.7 FM is currently CHR "Energy 103.7"

KGFL

"Cruisin' Oldies" KGFL is located at 1110 AM and licensed to Clinton, Arkansas.

KZON

101.5 KZON was on the air in Phoenix, Arizona from 1992 to 2016 with various formats including Alternative Rock, Hot Talk, Modern AC, Adult Top-40 and Rhythmic CHR.

KVAK

 

KVAK 1230 AM plays Country music while 93.3 FM programs hit music during the day and Classic Rock at night.  Both stations are licensed to (K) Valdez, AlasKa.

WHEP

1310 AM WHEP (W Howard E Pill--the original owner) is a News/Talk/Sports and Oldies station licensed to the city of Foley in Baldwin County Alabama.  They've been on the air for almost 60 years, most of them as a daytime-only station.  WHEP now also broadcasts on a translator at 92.5 FM.
