KRE

1400 AM KRE was a Progressive Jazz station in Berkeley, California.  They played a mix of jazz fusion and modern jazz as well as R&B, Soul, Reggae and Blues.

In 1973 the KRE facilities were used by director George Lucas in his movie American Graffiti.  Lucas used their radio studios to film the legendary Wolfman Jack for his scenes with Richard Dreyfuss.

From around 1979ish until at least '84 I recall they did an experiment of including many New Wave songs and Crossovers thereof.
