1230 AM in Gresham, Oregon signed on the air on September 28, 1956 as KGRO. In June of 1963 they changed call letters to KRDR and that summer became the Northwest's first 24 hour Country & Western station. A foray into Top-40 took place in the late 1960s but they switched back to Country in 1971. The KRDR calls went away in 1988 when they became KKGR. 1230 AM currently carries a Spanish Religious format as KRYN.

I remember KRDR back in the 60's. They'd play top-40 during the evening and I listened to it every day!

My former father in law was one of the radio personalities in the early 80's. I met Johnny Conterfeit at KRDR.
I met the top 40 dj’s about 1967; Chris Marks and Mike Robert’s, and went with them on a couple of remotes. I heard Mike later worked at KYXI and Chris became a state policeman.
Chris (Monlux) Marks was actually a City of Portland police officer for a short time. He went on to form Monqui Productions…Mike, sadly, passed away in 1972. I have very fond memories of them! KRDR played rock and roll in the evenings with Chris and Mike as disc jockeys! 1967 was a great time to be a teen!🤗
The only reason we listened to KRDR was for school closure reports in the winter... out in Boring, they were the first station to give the announcement and we would rejoice! Tuned in on the kitchen "intercom" system at about 6:30am to anxiously await the news!
