WKES (named after the KESwick Christian School who founded the station) is a Religious broadcaster licensed to Lakeland, Florida near Tampa Bay. They are one of 5 stations in Florida operated by the Moody Broadcasting Network.

I'm Feeling Lucky

Like almost everybody else, I use Google for all of my web searches. All this time I never paid attention to the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button or even knew what it was. If you enter anything in the search box and click the "Lucky" button it bypasses all the results and sends you directly to whatever the first ranked page would have been. So I typed in "radio stickers" and was pleasantly surprised that it sent me to this very blog. I imagine this could change over time but as of today I'm the lucky "radio sticker" winner.

"Radio promotional items" will put your station's logo on a variety of nicknacks.
"Station sticker" sends you to a motor vehicle inspection business in Maine.

After getting your car inspected at that place you could drive up to Bar Harbor, Maine and listen to "Lucky 99" WLKE.

Actually, you can't because "Lucky 99" is now "99.1 The Bear" but they still carry a Country format. "The Bear" is actually simulcast on three stations: 99.1 WLKE, 104.7 WBFB and 103.3 WMCM.

WCZR

WCZR is a Talk station from Vero Beach, Florida. They are a simulcast of 94.3 WZZR which is licensed to Riviera Beach near West Palm Beach. Programming is aimed squarely at men with Bob & Tom in the mornings, Lex & Terry at night and Miami Dolphins football.

Coast Guard Day

The United States Revenue Cutter Service was founded on this date by Alexander Hamilton in 1790. Their job as an armed branch of the Treasury Department was to enforce import tariffs and all other maritime laws. In 1915 the Revenue Cutter Service merged with the United States Life-Saving Service to form the United States Coast Guard. The modern Coast Guard is probably best known for their search and rescue operations.

SOS is the description of a specific Morse code distress signal. It consists of three dots-three dashes-three dots (· · · — — — · · ·)
In International Morse Code three dots form the letter S while three dashes make an O. SOS later became known as "save our ship."

WSOS is a Soft Adult Contemporary station from St. Augustine, Florida and licensed to Fruit Cove FL. Sadly, they are no longer known as "The Muuuuuusic Station" but instead go by the less original but more Florida-appropriate "Sunny 94.1"

KXIX

KXIX was a Modern Rock station from Bend, Oregon. 94.1 FM is now a Top-40 station known as "Power 94."

Colorado Day

Today is Colorado Day which is always celebrated on the first Monday in August. Colorado became the 38th US state on August 1, 1876.

The first radio station in Colorado was 560 AM KLZ which went on the air in Denver on March 10, 1922. In 1978 they switched formats from MOR to Country.

KLZ is currently a conservative-leaning Talk station known as "560 AM The Source."

KGNC-AM

KGNC (K Global News Co.) is a News/Talk station from Amarillo, Texas. Their 10000-watt signal reaches 109 counties over a five state area.  Stickers from their Country-formatted sister station can be seen here.

1CMS

1CMS (1 Canberra Multicultural Service) broadcasts in over 30 languages from their studios in Holder, Australia.

CHVR

"Star 96" CHVR is a Country station licensed to Pembroke, Ontario.

Radio Del Mar

Radio Del Mar broadcasts from the city of Comodoro Rivadavia in the Chubut province of southern Argentina. I received this sticker from them in 2004 but it appears they've moved up the dial to 98.7 FM since then. Their format seems to be heavy with News/Talk and some music programming. Google Translate says their "programming is done for all tastes, ranging from information through music, politics, sports and programs with their own opinions."

KRZR

KRZR was a Rock station licensed to Hanford, California near Fresno.

WTIP

WTIP is a non-commercial community radio station licensed to Grand Marais, Minnesota.

KJIC

90.5 FM KJIC is a Religious station licensed to Santa Fe, Texas near Houston.  The top sticker dates to their time as a Gospel station.  They currently play Christian Country music.

Bisons vs Mudhens

Traveling 2 1/2 hours north this afternoon for a baseball double header between the Buffalo Bisons and the Toledo Mudhens. Game one is a continuation of last night's rain-suspended contest while game two will be an abbreviated seven inning affair. We plan on hitting a couple indie record stores beforehand and maybe grab a bite at Tony Packo's. Go Bisons!!

WGR is a Sports Talk station from Buffalo, New York.

WCWA is a Sports Talk station from Toledo, Ohio located at 1230 AM. Although they're otherwise all-sports and an affiliate of Fox Sports Radio, their 6 to 10 am morning show consists of Smooth Jazz. In 2007 WCWA became the flagship station of the Mudhens. Their call letters are a reference to Toledo's location on Lake Erie and its connection to the St. Lawrence Seaway (C-WA.)

UPDATE: Buffalo lost both games 12-6 and 5-4. Good fun nonetheless.

"Hot 101.9" WHTE is a CHR station licensed to Ruckersville, Virginia.



"Hot 97" WQHT is a bullet-riddled Urban Contemporary station from New York City.

"Hot 105" WHQT is an Urban Adult Contemporary station licensed to Coral Gables, Florida.

Dart on Map - KZBE KOMW & KNCW

Today's random dart landed in north central Washington between Omak Lake and Lake Pateros within the Colville Indian Reservation.


North Cascades Broadcasting Inc. owns three stations licensed to Omak, Washington--about 15 miles north of where the dart landed: Adult Contemporary "B104.3" KZBE, AM 680 KOMW and Country KNCW located at 92.7 FM.

WMMM

"105.5 Triple M" is an Adult Album Alternative station licensed in Madison, Wisconsin.

WHRZ

"Hangar Radio Z" is a CHR-style, Contemporary Christian station licensed to Spartanburg, South Carolina. At only 47 watts, 104.1 WHRZ is considered a Low Power FM station. 95.7 FM is one of eight translators spreading their signal across northwestern South Carolina.

WBKV

1470 AM WBKV is a Classic Country station licensed to West Bend, Wisconsin. Their sister station 92.5 FM is now the Country outlet WBWI. An early 1980s (which may be when this sticker is from) Broadcasting Yearbook lists WBKV-FM as having an MOR format while the AM was Beautiful Music.
