CKDA

CKDA began broadcasting at 1340 AM from Victoria, British Columbia in 1950. Over the years they moved to 1280, 1220 and 1200 AM before signing off the air in 1995.

I'll add a bit to their history. They didn't sign off in 1995, they changed calls to CKXM. In 2000 CKXM flipped from 1200 to 91.3. A year later they became Alternative Rocker CJZN (The Zone) which is still around today.

Since then 1200 has been reallocated to Vancouver and is now the home of Punjabi station CJRJ.

trust me, we signed off. i was there when the new owners came in and shut 'er down. CKXM was launched in a different location after the standard period of non-committal format music over the air.

Before I throw it in the garbage...trying to find a home for the actual record hidden in a contest to promote listening by the radio station CKDA in Victoria BC Canada. Clues were given out for location and the prize was a parcel of land in Shawnigan Lake area...any interest in it?

Yes! Does it have a CKDA logo on it anywhere? What is it a recording of? Are you willing to donate it to a loving home? Email me at radiodecals@gmail.com Thanks!
