Omulunga Radio went on the air in Windhoek, Namibia in February, 2002. Omulunga is an Oshiwambo word for a type of palm tree that grows in low-lying regions of south central Africa.
Sister station KUDU FM was also based in Windhoek and went on the air in 1998. They are now known as JACC FM and carry an Adult Hits format (just like the dozens of "Jack FMs" in North America.)

A little trivia, there is a KUDU in the US. It's a LifeTalk Radio-affiliated Religious station in Tok, Alaska. Tok is a small town about 60 miles from the US/Canadian border, 120 miles from Dawson, Yukon, and 180 miles from Fairbanks.
