The original Berliner Rundfunk was established in 1945 by the Soviet Military government and was based in Berlin, East Germany. After the unification of East and West Germany in 1990 Berliner Rundfunk ceased operations. An
identically named private station started broadcasting in 1992 at 91.4 FM.
