Radio Sticker of the Day Mailbag

Maybe it's because I work for the United States Postal Service but I love mail. Which makes it nice that my little hobby is dependent on mail received from radio stations, fellow sticker collectors and readers of this blog. You never know what's going to be in that box when you open it up. Today I received two stickers via registered letter from a fellow in Venezuela who also collects radio decals. Thanks for sending them! I'll be mailing you some in return very soon.

I could find no information about Radio Internacional other than that it is/was from Venezuela. Maybe the person who sent it could offer some background about this station?

KKSI

"101.5 Kiss FM" KKSI is a Classic Rock station licensed to Eddyville, Iowa.

KDHX

88.1 KDHX is a listener-supported, non-profit radio station from St. Louis, Missouri. The above sticker can be had for a mere $1.00 at the station's web store, along with a variety of t-shirts and other logoed items.

There are currently 18 "Moose FM" branded stations located mostly in Ontario, Canada and owned by Vista Radio.  They air an Adult Contemporary format.

102.5 Hit Channel

102.5 Hit Channel was an Italian CHR station which now goes under the name "RTL 102.5" They appear to be a national station with offices in Rome, Milan and Naples.

Radio Eco

Except for a few mentions on DXing websites, little can be found out about this shortwave station from Reyes, Bolivia.

KXZI

Scott Johnston's front porch is the broadcast studio of Low Power FM station KXZI in Kalispell, Montana. The 21,000 song playlist of the "Montana Radio Cafe" is made up of a variety of genres including Jazz, Folk, Blues and Bluegrass.

WRKR

WRKR was a Rock-based Top-40 station from 1970 to the mid-1980s and licensed to Racine, Wisconsin. The WRKR call letters now live at a Rock station in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

WLLZ

WLLZ was a Rock station in Detroit, Michigan from 1980 to 1995. Two other WLLZ decals can be seen here.

Indiana Day

On this date in 1816 statehood was granted to Indiana by Congress and they became the 19th US state. Indiana Day will be celebrated by public schoolchildren (presumably tomorrow since it's Sunday) and the general Hoosier population on the occasion of the state's 195th birthday.

An Indiana-shaped sticker from WFBQ in Indianapolis. "Q95" has been a Rock station since 1974, first with the automated "TM Stereo Rock" format, then using live and local jocks starting in 1978. The most powerful FM signal in the state is the flagship station of The Bob & Tom Show which is syndicated to about 150 stations nationwide.

WFWQ

"95Q FM" WFWQ was a Top-40 station in Fort Wayne, Indiana from 1982 to 1985. 95.1 FM is currently Hot AC "Magic 95.1" WAJI.

WACO

WACO is a Country station from (where else?) but Waco, Texas. "WACO 100" is a double rarity; one of only a handful of stations that defies the "K" call letters west of the Mississippi River rule and one of only three stations whose call letters spells out their city-of-license. (The other two are in Wise, Virginia and Ware, Massachusetts.)

KRVM

KRVM (K Radio Vocational Mechanics) is a non-commercial Adult Album Alternative station broadcasting from Sheldon High School in Eugene, Oregon. Specialty programs in the evening and weekends include Native American music, Blues, Electronica, Funk and Reggae. Eugene's first FM station went on the air in 1947 with two purposes: (1) To serve as a training ground for people looking to get qualified for technical and programming jobs and (2) To transmit educational programs to the city's public schools. They no longer do the second part but they still train high school students in the art of radio. KRVM simulcasts on a translator at 90.1 FM licensed to Florence, OR and on KSYD 92.1 FM licensed to Reedsport, OR.

KKRZ

"Z100" KKRZ has been a Top-40 station in Portland, Oregon since 1984.

KBSU

KBSU-FM plays Classical, Blues and Jazz and is a National Public Radio affiliate owned by Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. 91.5 KBSX is a News/Talk station in the Boise State Public Radio Network. In total, there are more than a dozen stations and translators in the network covering much of central and southern Idaho as well as parts of Nevada and Utah. KBSU AM 730 has been sold off and is now "NewsRadio" KINF.

KXGJ?

This entry started out as another mystery sticker but after Googling around I think I've determined that it's from KXGJ in Bay City, Texas (currently a Regional Mexican station.) Can anyone confirm this?

Downtown Radio

Downtown Radio broadcasts a Hot AC format from Newtownards, Northern Ireland. They were the first commercial radio station in Ireland after going on the air in 1976 and currently exists on one AM and seven FM frequencies. Evening and weekend specialty shows include Country, Jazz, Gospel and Folk.

100'5 Das Hitradio

100'5 Das Hitradio is a German-language pop station that went on the air in October, 1998. The contact address for "The Super Hits of the 90s and the best of today" places them in Eupen, Belgium.
