The Highway Stations
"The Highway Stations" began in 1980 specifically to serve motorists driving between Los Angeles, California and Las Vegas, Nevada. At that time, there were literally no FM stations to be heard in this sparsely populated area along Interstate 15. The stations eventually attracted a sizable amount of casino advertising aimed at listeners destined for Vegas. The two original outlets were 98.1 KRXV licensed to Yermo, CA and 99.5 FM KXVR licensed to Mountain Pass, CA. Along with 98.9 KHWY in Essex, CA, they are now branded as "The Highway Vibe" and carry an Adult Contemporary format.
Highway Radio later added Rock formatted stations known as "The Drive" as well as "Highway Country."
