AM 800 WCCM signed on the air in August 1947 from Lawrence, Massachusetts. The call letters were supposedly an attempt at a Roman numeral for their frequency--subtract CC (200) from M (1000) and you get 800. WCCM was owned by sportscaster Curt Gowdy beginning in the early 1960s and carried a full-service Middle-of-the-Road format. They moved to 1490 AM in 2002 and aired Spanish-language Talk and added a translator at 103.7 FM licensed to Haverhill, MA. As of this posting they carry a Spanish Top-40 format branded as "Latin X 103.7"
