KHUM
104.7 FM KHUM airs a wide-ranging Adult Album Alternative format in Eureka, California. They are also heard on a translator station at 104.3 FM. KHUM went on the air in January 1996.
I had a friend who worked at KHUM (she's since moved back to the Pittsburgh area) and they consider themselves "the only commercial Freeform station in the nation".
Not far away from Eureka is KPIG-FM/Freedom, CA. They are sometimes called Freeform as well, but actually consider themselves to be "progressive eclectic".
I see KHUM described as Freeform in various places but musically they seem to me to fit squarely into the AAA category. Admittedly, this is just from looking at some "Recently Played" playlists. I bet the DJs get to pick what they play which is a rarity and would be one of my definitions of what a freeform station is. And their playlist certainly seems varied, especially for a commercial station.
Yeah, my friend would go between Punk and Ska, to Alternative, to Soul, to Oldies, to who knows. It's a very format free station. Whatever you call it, it's VERY popular in Humboldt County (hence the "HUM" in it's calls) and online. :)

Just some fun trivia. :)
