WVIC

WVIC was a Rock station licensed to East Lansing, Michigan. Not sure if this sticker dates back to the 1970s when WVIC FM simulcast the Top-40 of their AM sister station during the day and played progressive rock at night or if it's from a later Rock format. 94.9 FM is currently Classic Rocker WMMQ.

It dates from 1985 to 1989, after WVIC was done being "The New 95 fm" (1982-1985). Prior to being the New 95, It was "The Original Rock 94.9 WVIC" (1976-1982). I was with the station back around 1982-1983 part time, as Ron Scott.

I listened to WVIC in East Lansing, first half of 1978, until May of that year; when I moved there, (from Ohio), to find work. I lived with my Aunt and Uncle, in East Lansing.

I had brief work as a Kelly Girl office temp, and, at Lansing Mall. I almost got hired testing Dairy Milk samples at an Agricultural company, full-time. It paid above minimum wage. I wanted to be a Clerk Typist, entry level, at channel 6, a CBS affiliate, instead. With my earnings from Kelly Girl and Lansing Mall, I looked in the Yellow Pages, hired "Charles Fox Driving School" (?), and got my Michigan driver's license. I didn't yet have a car, but the driver's license was a photo I.D. to look for work. Anyway...

I was caller #4, and won the "French Kiss" album of Bob Welch. I took three buses to WVIC, and three buses back home again; to pick up the album. (The way the Bus routes were set up, it took three busses, each way; even though it was 4.4 miles away.) It's still one of my favorite albums. 🎶

I liked the small downtown of East Lansing. I liked browsing the Bookstores!

I wish I had lived longer in East Lansing. 👍

I still have a WVIC bumper sticker. 👍

I picked it up at the Receptionist's desk, when I picked up the record album.

WVIC was simulcast on both AM/FM, when I lived in East Lansing, until May of 1978.
