KOMA

KOMA-AM was a Country station in OklahOMA City, Oklahoma from 1980 to 1985 when they switched to Beautiful Music. 1520 AM is now News/Talk KOKC.

KOMA-FM carries a Classic Hits format.

KGOR

KGOR is a 110,000-watt Classic Hits station from Omaha, Nebraska. They were a more traditional Oldies station when I got the above sticker in 2000. KGOR now uses the branding "Superhits 99.9"

CHUM-FM

An adhesive cloth patch from CHUM FM in Toronto commemorating three Canadian dates on Styx's Paradise Theatre Tour. CHUM FM switched from Classical to Progressive Rock in 1968 and still played Rock when this sticker came out in 1981. CHUM-FM is currently a Hot Adult Contemporary station.

Candy!

Halloween's not til tomorrow but Beggar's Night was tonight in our neighborhood. Here's TheBoy in his homemade Wedgehead costume and this year's candy haul.


"Candy 101" KNDE broadcast from Reno, Nevada in the early to mid-1990s. I have no idea what their format was as most Google searches lead to the currently operating Top-40 station "Candy 95.1" from College Station, Texas which also uses the KNDE call letters. 100.9 FM is licensed to Sparks, NV and is now an Alternative Rock station KRZQ.

Radio Antigoon

Radio Antigoon began broadcasting from Antwerp, Belgium in 1980 and lasted until 2004. Not sure what format they carried but I did find an extremely thorough site dedicated to Flemish local radio with tons of logos including more from Radio Antigoon here.

WTIX

WTIX was a highly successful Top-40 station in New Orleans, Louisiana from the 1950s through the 1970s. A few WTIX pictures, surveys, airchecks and other New Orleans radio history can be found here. 690 AM currently carries a Talk format as WIST.

WMMZ

WMMZ "Z102" was a Top-40 station licensed to Meridian, Mississippi. 102.1 FM is now WALT FM, a Talk station that simulcasts its sister station WALT AM 910.

WHST

WHST is one of 6 stations and translators in the Northern Christian Radio network. Most of their stations now use the branding "The Promise FM." WHST is licensed to Tawas City, Michigan.

WBLC

WBLC is a Religious station from Lenoir City, Tennessee near Knoxville.

KSTJ

KSTJ "Star 102.7" was an 80s-based AC station licensed to Boulder City, Nevada. 102.7 FM now carries a Country format as KCYE "The Coyote."

KMGL

KMGL is an Adult Contemporary station from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

KDWA

KDWA is a News/Talk station from Hastings, Minnesota.

WRKG

WRKG was an Adult Standards station licensed to Lorain, Ohio in the mid-1980s. They later changed formats to Country Gospel during the day and Hispanic at night. 1380 AM carried those call letters from 1984 to 1997. They are currently WDLW "Kool Kat Oldies."

British Broadcasting Corporation

On this date in 1922 the British Broadcasting Corporation was formed by a group of six telecommunications companies. The BBC was the world's first national broadcasting organization and made their first transmission in November 1922 from station 2LO in London.

Tom Joyner Commutes / WGCI

On this date in 1986, Tom Joyner began working at two stations in two cities. He deejayed mornings at KKDA in Dallas then flew 800 miles to Chicago to do afternoons at WGCI. He did this 5 days a week for almost 7 years racking up 7 million frequent flyer miles in the process. This earned him the nicknames "The Fly Jock" and "The Hardest Working Man In Radio."

WGCI (W Globetrotter Communications Inc.) is an Urban Contemporary station licensed to Chicago, Illinois.
