KNOR
1400 AM KNOR went on the air in (K) NORman, Oklahoma in 1949. A 1994 article from The Oklahoman newspaper says that KNOR's owner was willing to donate the station to the University of Oklahoma. I can find no evidence that this ever happened. This OUDAILY article from 1996 says that the station started a show called "The Fringe" playing Alternative Rock on Friday and Saturday nights. While the show was run by OU students, they were not sponsored by the university.
1400 AM currently airs a Sports format with the call letters KREF.
Obviously, the bottom sticker is suffering from some bad ink issues.

KUSW
Terrestrial, commercial Rock stations are a dime a dozen. But a Rock station broadcasting on shortwave radio was something unique indeed. From 1987 until 1990, Salt Lake City, Utah's "SuperPower" KUSW aired what would later be described as a rock-leaning Adult Album Alternative format to listeners around the world. Besides music, KUSW also aired news and public affairs programming as well as worldwide weather conditions. Advertisers were companies that had international presence such as Coca-Cola, McDonald's, Pizza Hut and Levis. Sadly, KUSW was sold to the Trinity Broadcasting Network who switched to Religious programming. To celebrate the change in ownership, TBN literally blew up the KUSW record library because, you know....devil music.
