WHYR
96.9 FM WHYR is a low-power, all-volunteer community radio station in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They originally applied for an FCC license in 2000 but didn't go on the air until 2011. This was partially due to "an unaffiliated entity, who also applied for a permit in 2000 but did not receive one, filed unauthorized documents with the FCC to transfer control of WHYR-LP to them." Stealing someone's operating license sounds crazy and impossible but it happened.

WDUX
800 AM WDUX began broadcasting in April 1956 from Waupaca, Wisconsin. They were a daytime-only station until 1987 when they were granted post-sunset authority. After the station was sold in 2020 they switched call letters to WPCA.

860 AM WAYE was on the air in Baltimore, Maryland from 1955 to 1984. In the 1970s they were an Album Oriented Rock station but had switched to Big Band music by the end of the decade. WAYE only operated at full power during daylight hours to protect the clear-channel signal of CJBC in Toronto, Ontario.

(W) Grosse Pointe Radio (the location of their original studios) went on the air in Detroit, Michigan in 1961 and has aimed their programming at Black listeners for most of their existence. Music genres played over the years include R&B, Soul, Gospel, Urban AC, Urban Oldies and Smooth Jazz. The 50,000-watt station is owned by the International Free and Accepted Modern Masons.
