KHYI is not a typical Country music station and might best be described by their Yahoo! Groups Fan Site:KHYI 95.3 (www.khyi.com) is the biggest and best Americana station in the world (or at least, Dallas), and it's all about the music. Call it "insurgent country", "No Depression" music, alt.country, or whatever you like... what it ain't is Garth, Shania, Billy Ray, or any of the rest of that NashVegas crap!
This sticker came out around 2002 and they've since changed their branding to "95.3 FM The Range" but they still carry an "Alternative/Outlaw/Classic Country" format with an emphasis on local Texas artists. KHYI is licensed to Howe, Texas and is a rimshot into the Dallas/Ft. Worth market.
