Blue Danube Radio was an English-language station run by
Österreichischer Rundfunk, Austria's national public service broadcaster. They went on the air in August, 1979 with programming aimed primarily at the community of the newly-opened
United Nations Office in Vienna. For a time, BDR shared their frequency with station
FM4 before going nationwide in 1997 on a variety of dial positions. Blue Danube Radio ceased broadcasting in 2000.
