WAGE

Leesburg, Virginia's WAGE went on the air in 1958 at 1290 AM as a daytime only station offering a variety of music and news.  They later switched to 1200 AM and went all-news/talk.  A 2005 ownership change eventually resulted in firings and the gutting of almost all local news content.  The 1200 AM frequency turned to static and WAGE went off the air for good in 2009.

In 2011, WAGE moved to AM1190, upped their watts to 50,000 daytime (1,000 nighttime). Their callsign also changed to WCRW in 2011, as well their format. The station began carrying a simulcast of "China Radio International", which continues today.
