KGU

Honolulu's KGU signed on the air in 1922, thirty-seven years before Hawaii became a state.  In 1941 the Japanese used KGU's signal as a source for direction finding and navigation on their way to attack Pearl Harbor.  The 10,000-watt, clear-channel station currently broadcasts a Sports format and is now also heard on a translator at 95.1 FM.
