The Simpson's Hometown

For almost a quarter century, Simpsons creator Matt Groening has kept the location of the show a secret. The family lives in Springfield but it was never revealed which state it was in. (There are 13 cities, 11 towns and 14 townships in the United States named Springfield.) In an interview with Smithsonian magazine, Groening said that the fictional town was named after Springfield, Oregon.


1050 AM KORE is a Religious station licensed to Springfield-Eugene, Oregon and a sure favorite of Ned Flanders.

KKNU

KKNU is a Country station licensed to Springfield, Oregon. They also operate 4 translator stations to extend their signal throughout the Eugene/Springfield area.

WSPR

WSPR is a Spanish/Tropical station from Springfield, Massachusetts. They carried an MOR format when this 1970s-era sticker was printed. WSPR began in 1961 as a Top-40 station and later had a Sports Talk format.

Cheap Sunglasses

Just as every station known as "Kicks" is required by law to be a Country station, every "Cool" or "Kool" seems to carry an Oldies format. All three of these stations have different owners and are in no way related but somehow ended up with virtually identical logos. I have 59 stickers from "Cool"/"Kool" stations...I would guess about a third of them are sporting these same Wayfarers.

WQLD - Luverne, Alabama. Now a Gospel station "Hallelujah 104.3" WHLW.
