Radio Sticker of the Day Mailbag - WLEY

A jumbo package of radio sticker heaven arrived in my mailbox yesterday from Dan Sys in Langley, BC.  Along with a stack of decals, he also sent some pens, a lanyard, a banner and assorted other goodies.  THANK YOU DAN!!  Inside I was happy to find a decal that I've been trying to hunt down for a few years now...

I first saw this sticker while visiting Chicago about 5 years ago.  My records show that I've emailed them multiple times and sent one self-addressed stamped envelope but never had any luck getting a sticker.  WLEY "La Ley 107.9" is a Regional Mexican station licensed to Aurora, Illinois.

KABK

A 1998 sticker from KABK in Augusta, Arkansas.  Sometime around 2004, 97.7 FM became KSJM with a Gospel format.

Radio Monte Carlo

Radio Monte Carlo is a group of six different radio stations broadcasting in French, Italian, Russian, German and Arabic.  RMC has studios in France, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland and Russia.  The two letters at the bottom of this set of RMC stickers are postal codes for various Italian provinces.

Radio Angers

According to this logo-filled radio website, Radio Angers was on the air from 1981 to 1998 in the city of Angers, France.

WKY

930 AM WKY went on the air in 1922 and is Oklahoma's first radio station.  They've had many formats over the years and are currently a Regional Mexican station known as "La Indomable."  A previous WKY sticker can be seen here.  WKY is licensed to Oklahoma City, OK.

WVSM

WVSM is a Southern Gospel station licensed to Rainsville, Alabama.  It's unclear what year this sticker is from but it may well date from 1967 when the "Voice of Sand Mountain" went on the air with a Country & Western format.

WQLZ

92.7 WQLZ is an Active Rock station licensed to Taylorville, Illinois.

WLMS

"Spirit FM 88.3" WLMS was a Religious station licensed to Lecanto, Florida from 1992 to 2008.

KRBD

KRBD (K RainBirD) is a non-commercial public radio station in Ketchikan, Alaska.  They first broadcast in 1976 at 105.9 FM with 10 watts of power.  They currently operate with 3,000 watts at 105.3 FM.

WFXB

"B104.3" WFXB was a Classic Rock station in Baltimore, Maryland circa 2002/2003.  They now carry a CHR format as "Z104.3" WZFT.

WBNR

1260 AM WBNR (W Beacon Newburgh Radio) was an Oldies station licensed to Beacon, New York.  They currently carry a News/Talk format that is simulcast on the Hudson Valley Radio Network on 1420 AM WLNA and 920 AM WGHQ.

The Pepsi Free logo dates the bottom sticker to sometime between 1983 and 1987.

KTFW

KTFW (K Texas Fort Worth) is a Country station licensed to Glen Rose, Texas.  92.1 FM is currently known as "Hank FM" and is co-owned with the station featured in yesterday's entry, "95.9 The Ranch" KFWR.

KFWR

KFWR (K Fort Worth Radio)is a Texas Country station licensed to Mineral Wells, Texas near Dallas. 

CKER

CKER "101.7 World FM" is a Multilingual station from Edmonton, Alberta.  They carry programming in over a dozen languages including Dutch, Filipino, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Russian and Arabic.

Radio Mafia

Radio Mafia was a Finnish radio station aimed at teens and young adults.  They were on the air from 1990 until 2003.  Google translated the sticker to read "Water for all flowers."

Radio Sticker of the Day Mailbag - CHMX

Today I received an excellent batch of Canadian, American and European stickers from Adam in Regina, Saskatchewan (mailed via North Dakota, hence the US postage.)  He also included short histories of each station and approximate years that the stickers date from.  Thanks Adam!!
Three of the stickers included were from three different iterations of CHMX in Regina.

 "Mix 92" is circa 1991-1994.

 "MX 92.1 FM" existed from 1994 to 1998.

This large sheet of 11 decals from "Kiss 92" dates from 2000/2001.

92.1 FM is currently an Adult Contemporary station "My 92.1"

WKRQ

WKRQ is a Hot Adult Contemporary station in Cincinnati, Ohio.  "Q102" has carried some form of the CHR format, whether it be Hot AC, Adult Top-40 or straight-up Top-40, since 1975.

WSRV

WSRV "97.1 The River" is a Classic Hits station licensed to Gainesville, Georgia. 

WORD

WORD FM is a Christian Talk station in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
