WLUM
Milwaukee, Wisconsin's WLUM (We Love U Milwaukee) has broadcast under various formats since 1979 when they hit the air as "The Station With A Heart," a Disco/Soul outlet. They were an Urban Contemporary station for most of the 80s eventually transitioning to straight CHR by the early 90s. Modern Rock took over in 1994 but never completely caught on. In 2006 WLUM dropped all syndicated programming and use of radio consultants, added a new set of live, local DJs and announced their "independence" along with a more diverse Modern Rock format.
WLUM is owned by NFL Hall of Famer and former Green Bay Packer Willie Davis.

KOOP
KOOP (pronounced on-air as Koh-Op, as in cooperative) is a volunteer-run, community station in Austin, Texas. They are on the air Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM and weekends from 9 AM to 10 PM. All other hours at the 91.7 FM frequency are filled by the University of Texas station KVRX. KOOP has suffered through three fires in their 21 year history. The first two, both in 2006, were caused by a careless smoker and a faulty heating and A/C unit. The third blaze was set by a disgruntled ex-volunteer who was upset that his song selections for an overnight internet broadcast had been changed. KOOP is licensed to Hornsby, Texas.

KABN
830 AM KABN was an Underground/Freeform/Progressive station broadcasting from Long Island, Alaska. They were on the air from 1979 until 1988. This KABN tribute site doesn't offer much in the way of a concise history of the station but the musings of former employees and listeners and the devotion they had to "The Voice of the People" is worth a look.

Shania Twain
I received a package of radio stickers a few days ago (thanks Dan!) and this stamp was included on one of the inner envelopes. Wow! I didn't know that Canada had a Shania Twain postage stamp and it's a shame that the postmark had to cut right across her picture.
Shania is featured on four radio stickers in my collection. This one is from KTOM licensed to Marina, California.

WGN
The first regular-season Chicago Cubs game was broadcast on 720 AM WGN in April, 1925 (seventeen years after they last won the World Series.) Cubs games have been heard exclusively on the station since 1958. This longtime partnership ends today as the News/Talker airs its last Cubs game before the team begins a seven-year deal with 780 AM WBBM. WGN was losing money on the games and cited low ratings during the team's recent on-field struggles as the reason they exercised an out-clause in its broadcast contract.
