R.I.P. KPRI

San Diego's 106.5 KPRI was a legendary Rock station in San Diego, California.  They began a full-time Progressive Rock format starting in 1968 and, in 1973, became the first station to describe themselves as an "Album Oriented Rock" station.  KPRI lasted until early 1984 when they succumbed to the ratings success of rival KGB-FM.

The KPRI call letters returned to San Diego in 2002 at 102.1 FM and continued the Adult Album Alternative format they had under previous calls KXST.  The independently owned station was sold  to Religious broadcaster Educational Media Foundation and flipped to yet another Contemporary Christian K-LOVE affiliate.  KPRI was licensed to Encinitas, California.

WWWM

A sticker and magnet from Hot Adult Contemporary WWWM licensed to Sylvania, Ohio near Toledo.  They've been branded "Star 105" since 1998.

UPDATE:  WWWM later renamed itself "Channel 105.5" and then in the summer of 2016 switched again to "Q105.5".  The reason for their re-branding sounds like something that was written by the satirical news organization The Onion.  Here's a quote from Cumulus Media's Toledo market manager:  "Our market research showed that people really like the letters of the alphabet. More specifically, they love the letter 'Q.' It is simply a matter of giving listeners what they want with this new brand."
Are you kidding me!?  That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard in my life (and yet, still, possibly completely true.)  I'm just trying to picture some unpaid intern doing "market research" to determine how people feel about the alphabet.  "The alphabet? I LOVE it!  Especially the letter Q!"  Ridiculous....

Finland's Kiss FM

Kiss FM was a network of more than a dozen Contemporary Hit Radio stations across Finland.  They were on the air from 1995 until 2005 and could be heard in all of the country's major regions including every city with a population over 40,000.  Kiss FM caused a ruckus in 2000 when their morning show broadcast a live, in-studio ménage à trois.  This didn't sit well with the government's broadcasting authority, even in famously liberal Finland.
