WGRR

Cincinnati, Ohio's 103.5 WGRR (W Great Rock & Roll) went on the air in 1990 with a traditional Oldies format.  Over the years they have dropped all songs from the 1950s and most from the 60s to concentrate on Classic Hits of the 70s and 80s.  WGRR is licensed to Hamilton, OH.

WUMD

89.3 FM WUMD broadcasts with 9,600 watts from the (W) University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.  The station went on the air on this day in 1972 with a 10 watt signal emanating from a cafeteria closet.  At the time, they were located at  91.1 FM and carried the call letters WUSM.  For a really crappy 45th birthday present, UMass Dartmouth announced last week that they would be selling the station to Rhode Island Public Radio for $1.5 million dollars.  A "Save WUMD" Facebook page has been set up with information on how to contact the FCC and officially oppose the sale of the station.

KGIL

This KGIL sticker probably dates to the mid-1980s when that year's Broadcasting Yearbook says 1260 AM carried an MOR format while "K94.3" was Adult Contemporary.  These 1984 jingles for the combo's FM half had the station "Rockin' Easy in the Valley".  Anybody know what the "K-Gillionaire" contest was all about?  KGIL AM & FM were licensed to San Fernando, California near Los Angeles.

KGIL was branded as "Retro 1260" from 2009 to 2011 and played a mix of Oldies and Adult Standards.

WRNI

A static cling postcard sticker from WRNI in Providence, Rhode Island.  1290 AM went on the air in 1947 as WDEM and was a Top-40 station in the 1960s and 70s as WICE.  In 1998, Boston University's WBUR bought what was then Portuguese-language WRCP for almost $2 million and switched call letters to WRNI.  A very controversial sale of the station a few years later resulted in investigations and resignations triggered by the local donors who contributed money to buy both WRNI and sister station WXNI from their previous owners.
WRNI is currently owned by Rhode Island Public Radio and carries Spanish-language public radio programming.

A decal from three of the four Rhode Island Public Radio stations.  88.1 FM WELH - Providence, 91.5 FM WCVY - Coventry and 102.7 FM WNPE - Narragansett Pier.

Arcan Radio went on the air in 1980 from Bilzen, Belgium.  They originally broadcast at 101.9 FM before eventually moving to 106.2 FM with their signal reaching both the Belgian and Dutch regions of Limburg.  A printing error seems to have blanked out the lower left corner of this sticker which reads "het bonkend hart van muzikaal limburg" (the pounding heart of musical Limburg).

Radio Rhema

"Rhema" in Greek literally means "utterance" or "thing said".  In Christianity it is used in reference to the concept of Rhematos Christou or Jesus Christ's sayings.  Radio Rhema began in 1974 in Christchurch, New Zealand although its roots go back to the 1960s when they were known as Gospel Radio Fellowship.  After multiple temporary licenses to broadcast (sometimes for one day only) they received a permanent license in 1978.  This made them the first Christian radio station in the British Commonwealth and one of the first in the world.  In the 1980s, they branched out to Australia which is where most of these Rhema stickers are from.
