CJUM

101.5 FM CJUM is the volunteer-run campus radio station at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, MB.  The original CJUM broadcast at 101.1 FM and was on the air from 1975 to 1980 before shutting down for financial reasons.  They were one of the two first college radio stations ever granted a broadcast license in Canada (along with Carleton University's CKCU in Ottawa.)  A group of students started a campaign in 1996 to bring the station back.  Sixteen years after they left the airwaves "UMFM" returned on a new frequency in September 1998.
