R.I.P. Don Imus

Legendary broadcaster Don Imus passed away today at age 79.  He was on the air for almost 50 years and at one time was syndicated on over 70 stations.  Imus' career was overshadowed by a racial slur against the Rutgers University women's basketball team which resulted in the cancellation of his Imus in the Morning show by CBS Radio.

89.1 FM KBYU airs Classical music from (K) Brigham Young University in Provo/Salt Lake City, Utah.  They are also simulcast on 6 translator stations throughout parts of Utah and Idaho.  KBYU went on the air in 1960.

WWZZ

"Z104" WWZZ was a Top-40, and later Modern Adult Contemporary station, in Washington, DC.  The Waldorf, Maryland-licensed station was on the air from 1996 until 2006.

KDAL "96 Lite FM" was an Adult Contemporary station in Duluth, Minnesota circa the mid-to-late 1990s.  The call letters are the initials of the original owner, (K) Dalton Alexander LeMasurier.

WGTS

91.9 FM WGTS (Washinton's Gateway To Service) is a Contemporary Christian station in Washington, DC.  They went on the air in 1957 and for most of their history were owned and operated by Washington Adventist University.  WGTS is licensed to Takoma Park, Maryland.

Cleveland Ohio's 92.3 FM carried the call letters WLYT from 1971 until 1983.  During that time they carried multiple formats including Oldies, Top-40. Disco and AOR as "92 Rock."  WLYT was licensed to Cleveland Heights, OH.

WHSR

WHSR was a student-run, carrier current station broadcasting to the dorms at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.  They were in existence from the early 1990s until 2000.

WDJO

1160 WDJO played Oldies in Cincinnati, Ohio from 2006 until 2009 when they moved to 1480 AM.  They were licensed across the Ohio River to Florence, Kentucky.

WAMU

88.5 FM WAMU is a public News/Talk station broadcasting from (W) AMerican University in Washington, DC.  They went on the air in 1961 and are the main National Public Radio affiliate in the DC area.

KSDO

AM 1130 KSDO was a News/Talk station in San Diego, California from the early 1970s until 2003.

KPAM

860 AM KPAM (K PAMplin Broadcasting--the former owners) airs News/Talk programming in Portland, Oregon.  The 50,000-watt (daytime) station went on the air in 1997  and is currently branded as "The Answer".  KPAM is licensed to Troutdale, OR.

KGOU

106.3 FM KGOU is a public radio station owned by the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK.  When they went on the air in 1983 their signal didn't cover the greater Oklahoma City area.  They are now heard on 8 repeater stations throughout parts of central and western Oklahoma.

KCHG

"Crossover FM" 88.9 KCHG is a Religious station licensed to Cedar City, Utah.  Their signal covers much of the southern part of the state as well as parts of Nevada and Arizona.
