WWZZ

"Z104" WWZZ was a Top-40, and later Modern Adult Contemporary station, in Washington, DC.  The Waldorf, Maryland-licensed station was on the air from 1996 until 2006.

Their logo on a t-shirt circa 2004.

Z104 was also simulcast on WWVZ-FM 103.9 out of Braddock Heights, Maryland. The main signal (WWZZ) was on 104.1.

Oddly, when Z104 was done, the two stations were split up. WWZZ went to Radio One, eventually becoming Gospel WPRS and WWVZ went to Bonneville.

WWVZ switched it's calls to WTLP, and began simulcasting DC's all news WTOP for the Frederick, Maryland area. WTLP was the first of WTOP's simulcasters. Warrenton, Virginia's WTWT (now WWWT) flipped from a Bonneville-owned News-Talk to a WTOP simulcast a year after WTLP's "birth".

WWVZ's AM sister, then WZYQ, now WWFD, was also sold to Bonneville. It's now the first and ONLY all digital station in the station.

Hubbard bought Bonneville's entire DC cluster in 2011.
