WCAO

600 AM WCAO went on the air in Baltimore, Maryland in 1922.  From the 1950s through the 70s they were a powerhouse Rock/Top-40 station before flipping to Country in 1982.  They've been a Gospel station since 1991 and are currently known as "Heaven 600."

1570 AM KYCR (K Your Christian Radio) was a Religious station in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota.

KRGO

 

1550 AM KRGO was a Country music station in Salt Lake City, Utah from 1968 until 1988.

KLGR

AM 1490 KLGR went on the air in Redwood Falls, Minnesota in November 1954.  Their FM sister began broadcasting 20 years later.  The AM half currently carries a Country format while the FM is a "Jack FM" Variety Hits outlet.

KEUB "93.3 The Rock" is, you guessed it, a Rock station licensed to Gearhart, Oregon.

KAWL

 

1370 AM KAWL went on the air in York, Nebraska in September 1954.  They currently simulcast a Classic Hits format branded as "Kool FM" that is also heard on translator station 103.5 FM K278CI.

KNBL / KEII / K266AF

"Cannonball 101" airs a Variety Hits format in Idaho Falls/Blackfoot/Pocatello, Idaho.  They are heard on 1260 AM KNBL, 690 AM KEII and translator station 101.1 FM K266AF.
 

WRPI

91.5 FM WRPI is run by the students at (W) Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York near Albany.  They went on the air in 1957 although radio broadcasting on the campus of RPI goes back to AM station WHAZ in the early 1920s.
 

KUZZ

 

KUZZ AM 550 and FM 107.9 are simulcast Country stations in Bakersfield, California.  Their call letters refer to "Cousin" Herb Henson, a country music performer and local television celebrity who was the station's manager in the early 1960s.  In 1966 the late country legend Buck Owens bought KUZZ and his estate still owns them today.

104.7 WIOT has been a Rock station in Toledo, Ohio since 1972.
 

KCRC

1390 AM KCRC (K Champlin Refining Company) went on the air in Enid, Oklahoma in 1926.  The sixth oldest radio station in the state currently carries a full-time Sports format.
 

KAYI

 

"Kay 107" KAYI was a CHR station licensed to Musukogee, Oklahoma from 1982 until 1993.

KTSO

 

KTSO "94.1 The Sound" was a Soft Oldies station in Tulsa, Oklahoma circa 2007.

KTUZ

 

KTUZ 106.7 FM "La Z" is a Regional Mexican station in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

KRMG

740 AM KRMG airs a News/Talk format in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  They went on the air in December 1949 and were originally owned by Robert S KerR and Dean McGee.  Talk show host John Erling was on KRMG for almost 30 years.  Sometime around 1976 Erling created the fantasy/joke about the non-existent Tulsa Mountains.
 

KAKC

1300 AM KAKC is a Sports station in Tulsa, Oklahoma currently branded as "The Buzz."  The top sticker dates to 1999 when they were a Spanish-language outlet.

KADA

 

1230 AM KADA went on the air in Ada, Oklahoma in 1934.  They currently air an Active Rock format branded as "Pirate Radio" which is also heard on translator station K272FW at 102.3 FM.  KADA is owned by the Chickasaw Nation.

CKMX

1060 AM in Calgary, Alberta went on the air in 1922 with the call letters CFCN.  In 1994 they switched calls to CKMX and played Hot Adult Contemporary music.  Later format flips included Alternative Rock, Adult Standards, Classic Country and, as of today, all-Comedy.
