CKO

CKO was a Canadian radio news network that broadcast from 1977 until 1989.  Based in Toronto, Ontario, they were heard in a dozen cities including Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa and Winnipeg.  All stations used the CKO call letters with corresponding numbers (CKO-FM-1, CKO-FM-2 etc.)  The network reportedly lost $55 million dollars during its existence and was abruptly taken off the air in the middle of a broadcast on it's last day.

550 AM WGNG was on the air in Providence, Rhode Island from 1972 until 1985.  The call letters stood for (W) Gold-N-Great, a reference to the Oldies format they originally carried.  Other formats in their lifetime included Top-40, Lite Rock and a return to Oldies before switching calls to WICE.
