WIBW
580 AM WIBW is a News/Talk/Sports station in Topeka, Kansas. They are one of the rare stations on the west side of the Mississippi River with call letters that start with the letter W instead of K. This is because WIBW actually began as a "portable" radio station in Indiana in 1925. Back in the 1920s the Department of Commerce issued licenses for portable stations to serve cities who did not yet have their own broadcasters. WIBW was eventually owned by Charles Carrell who owned a handful of these "stations on wheels."
WIBW has been an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals Radio Network since the team began playing in 1969.
