Bayerischer Rundfunk ("Bavarian Broadcasting") is a public-service radio and television broadcaster based in Munich, Germany. They were founded in 1922 as Deutsche Stunde in Bayern and became Bayerischer Rundfunk in 1931. BR is partly funded through commercial advertising but most of their operating budget is derived from viewer and listener license fees which every houshold in Germany is required to pay.

Bayern 1 - Popular music and information
Bayern 2 - Spoken word/News/Documentaries along with some music (Alternative, Jazz and Folk)
Bayern 3 - Pop music targeted to a younger audience
BRKlassik - Classical music and opera
BR24 - Rolling news and traffic updates, short-form thematic programs (culture/sports/science/politics)
Five other unique BR channels are available through Digital Audio Broadcasting and internet streaming.
