KIEV


KIEV went on the air in February, 1933 at 850 AM in Los Angeles, California.  A frequency shift to 870 AM took place in 1941.  Formats over the years include Top-40, Country, Standards and Talk.  In 2001 the station switched call letters to KRLA and currently carries a News/Talk format.  KIEV was licensed to Glendale, CA.

CFIS

93.1 FM CFIS is a 5-watt, community radio station in Prince George, British Columbia.  They play pop hits from the 1950s through the 1990s as well as specialty shows.  "Boomer Radio" went on the air in July, 2007.

KNIX













102.5 FM KNIX has been a Country station in (K) PhoeNIX, Arizona since 1969.  At one time, the station was owned by legendary country singer Buck Owens.  1580 AM carried the KNIX call letters from 1973 until 1990 and usually simulcast the FM station.

WROX



AM 1450 WROX is a Classic R&B station in Clarksdale, Mississippi.  They went on the air in June, 1944.  Three years later in 1947, Early "Soul Man" Wright became the first black radio announcer in Mississippi and continued to broadcast on WROX for the next 52 years.  Ike Turner was a janitor at the station while attending Clarksdale High School.  WROX is one of the few stations that has its own museum which is located at 257 Delta Avenue in Clarksdale and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

KOLY AM and FM broadcast from Mobridge, South Dakota.  1300 AM went on the air in 1956 and currently carries a Soft Adult Contemporary format.  99.5 FM followed in 1973 and plays Hot Adult Contemporary music as "Star 99".

WNNJ AM & FM




1360 AM WNNJ was an Oldies station licensed to (W) Newton, New Jersey.  They went on the air in 1953 with a full-service MOR/News format.  Adult Contemporary, Top-40 and Standards formats followed before the "Solid Gold" Oldies began in the mid-1980s.  In 2008, WNNJ became WTOC and they currently carry Spanish Christian programming.


WNNJ FM is a Classic Rock station and went on the air in 1962.

KPLU


88.5 KPLU was a Jazz and News station in Tacoma, Washington from 1966 until 2016.  It was established by (K) Pacific Lutheran University located in Parkland, WA.  After learning that Pacific Lutheran was in quiet negotiations with the University of Washington to sell the station and incorporate it into UW's KUOW, a group called Friends of 88.5 managed to raise $7 million dollars to purchase KPLU and nix the deal.  The newly independent station changed call letters to KNKX ("Connects") in August, 2016.

Omulunga Radio / KUDU FM

Omulunga Radio went on the air in Windhoek, Namibia in February, 2002.  Omulunga is an Oshiwambo word for a type of palm tree that grows in low-lying regions of south central Africa.



Sister station KUDU FM was also based in Windhoek and went on the air in 1998.  They are now known as JACC FM and carry an Adult Hits format (just like the dozens of "Jack FMs" in North America.)

Radio NRW is a content provider and umbrella organization for 45 local radio stations in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.  Their first broadcast was in 1990 with what is now Radio
Duisburg.  NRW is based in the city of Oberhausen.
