AM 960 KROF began as a daytime-only outlet in Abbeville, Louisiana in 1948. Their call letters stood for the three main exports of Vermilion Parish at the time (K) Rice, Oil and Furs. A sister station at 104.9 FM went on the air in 1974 and would occasionally simulcast with their AM half. Formats over the years included Top-40, Country, Classic Country, Oldies and Cajun (broadcast entirely in French!) KROF-AM is a News/Talk station while the FM half moved up a notch to 105.1 and now has the call letters KFTE.
